I searched for you Bapu
in all my currency notes without a rest,
through the pages of my bulky history text,
in the ‘Clean drive’ posters of a million hues
and as I gazed at your towering, half forgotten statues.
But, all in vain...
Later though I realised Bapu,
that each time I saw a loving heart,
a selfless self, a helping hand,
It was you I had seen all along.
